Job Description
The Maintenance Superintendent manages and assists in completing day-to-day activities involving the maintenance of production machinery, buildings/facilities, equipment, and machinery including IT/Computer equipment, HVAC, electrical, water treatment, offices, garage, grounds, and overall facility maintenance. Also supervises and coordinates the work of employees who repair and maintain buildings and facilities, equipment, and machinery.

Work Hours: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm Monday – Friday. Also, on call and will report outside normal hours if called back to the plant and be included in weekend rotation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare work schedules, assign work, and supervise work, minimizing overtime and call-in hours.
- Coach, counsel, and manage the performance of maintenance personnel.
- Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for applicable equipment and machinery.
- Arrange for and manage appropriate third-party contractor support as needed.
- Ensure that employees maintain shops, work areas, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner and follow prescribed safety regulations.
- Eliminate or control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment, and machine operations that may lead to human injury or property damage.
- Perform various maintenance duties as needed.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all machines and the facility.
- Ensure tasks are completed safely during the shift, including proper PPE use, hazard recognition, and remediation of hazards such as trip hazards, leaks, spills, and equipment issues.
- Maintenance duties may include pipefitting, machining, welding (ARC, MIG, TIG), fabrication.
- Perform inventory controls.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical (assisting facilities electricians), machining repair, plant layout, and painting.
- Training and knowledge in general safety, lock-out tag-out, and forklift safety.
- Familiarity with and ability to use all relevant hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, OEM instructions, and specifications.
- Comfortable working in a team environment with Ox employees and outside contractors.
- Understanding of budgeting and performance management.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices, regulations, and OSHA standards.
- Experience in hiring and training technicians.
- Ability to create or follow preventative maintenance routines.
- Experience working with outside vendors and contractors to provide resources.
- Ability to meet deadlines and ensure repairs are completed efficiently, minimizing lead times.
- Monitor inventory of materials and equipment.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma, vocational school degree, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
- Experience with pumps, steam boilers, bearings, welding, pipefitting, and press rolls.
- Papermill experience is highly desired.
