Job summary

Old World Industries, LLC. is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent to serve as a hands-on technical resource supporting production through equipment troubleshooting, facility repairs, and preventive maintenance.

The role emphasizes safety, parts procurement, and proactive inspections in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience, strong problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to mentor a team while balancing budget

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment required.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Millwright, or related technical certifications preferred.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Trains, mentors, and develops maintenance department personnel to enhance technical skills and performance.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates daily maintenance activities to ensure efficient department operations and timely completion of work.
  • Conducts performance reviews and provides ongoing feedback to support employee development.
  • Oversees daily maintenance operations and ensures work is completed safely, accurately, and timely.
  • Evaluates facility systems and equipment to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develops and maintains maintenance procedures and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Assists with budget planning, repair estimates, and project costs.
  • Utilizes root cause analysis to identify and resolve equipment and process issues.
  • Leads by example and effectively guides a maintenance team.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Purpose

The Maintenance Superintendent serves as a hands‑on technical resource responsible for equipment troubleshooting, facility repairs, preventive maintenance, and coordinating maintenance activities to support production. This role promotes OWI safety standards, identifies corrective actions, manages parts procurement, and performs inspections to prevent future issues. The position requires hands‑on experience with fabrication, installation, operation, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates daily maintenance activities to ensure efficient department operations and timely completion of work

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Excellent leadership, management, and supervisory skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to effectively schedule projects, resources, and staff
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
  • Strong mathematical skills with the ability to apply practical calculations
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Understanding of cost analysis, productivity metrics, and operational impacts
  • Ability to present information clearly and accurately
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy
  • Sound judgement and knowledge of safety procedures and practices
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners
  • Experience with Six Sigma, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, or continuous improvement practices preferred
Education, Certifications, and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to access, navigate, and move throughout the facility to inspect equipment, diagnose issues, and plan repairs
  • Must be physically capable of performing maintenance and repair work when required
  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights when necessary
