Job summary

Turner Mining Group is seeking an Equipment Superintendent to lead safety, maintenance planning, and field leadership across our mining service operations. You will manage safety performance, deploy actions, and ensure compliance with health and environmental policies while spending substantial time in the field coordinating crews and contractors.

Ideal candidates bring 3-5 years in a Maintenance General Foreman role within heavy industry and at least 2 years in maintenance scheduling/flow

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years Maintenance General Foreman level or higher experience in heavy industry.
• Minimum 2+ years management of the maintenance scheduling and work flow function.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safety performance of the Maintenance Department.
• Deploy key initiatives and communicate messages to maintenance crews on site.
• Promote and ensure compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
• Spend 40-60% of working time in the field engaging with workforce.
• Provide safe and healthy work environment with proper training and supervision.
• Develop systems to meet monthly maintenance targets and improve backlog management.
• Review contractor scopes and schedules to control costs and ensure compliance.
• Support maintenance strategy objectives and resource optimization.
• Schedule maintenance activities effectively using business processes and systems.
• Conduct performance evaluations and support career development.

Turner Mining Group - Equipment Superintendent

We are looking for a dynamic and talented Equipment Superintendent at our fast-growing, forward thinking mining services company! This position will report directly to the Regional Equipment Manager.

Major Responsibilities:

• Safety performance of the Maintenance Department.
• Ensure deployment of key initiatives and communication of relevant messages to all maintenance crews at site.
• Effectively promote, deploy, and comply with all Safety & Health and Environmental policies, standards, procedures and regulations across Ledcor and Maintenance.
• Spend significant time in the field - visible felt leadership - interacting with the workforce, ~40 - 60% of working time.
• Provide employees with a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring provision of safe systems of work; safe work procedures; adequate training and instruction; competent supervision.
• Develop systems and foster the required collaboration to ensure the department meets monthly targets.
• Review competencies, Scopes of Work and Schedules of Rates for all Contractors ensuring costs are managed and controlled while complying with Contractor Controls Policies and Procedures.
• Help develop maintenance strategy objectives and ensure they are met.
• Ensure effective and efficient application of maintenance resources as measured by schedule compliance, PM compliance, level of planned vs. unplanned work and the ongoing management of backlog.
• Review hazard identification, near miss and incident reports and provide follow-up as appropriate
• Participate in incident investigations (injury, high-potential and equipment damage) as required ensure that corrective actions are effectively implemented and tracked.
• Ensure maintenance employees and contractors working within the Group are prequalified and have the necessary commencement paperwork, competencies and qualifications to work safely and deliver quality maintenance services (has the authority to prohibit any work from being undertaken unless all requirements are met).
• Support the development and ongoing optimization of maintenance strategies for the critical assets.
• Ensure that all maintenance activities are scheduled effectively, utilizing business processes and supporting systems.
• Complete performance evaluation reviews for direct reports and manage their career development.
• Recruit for Maintenance positions. Ensure that succession planning for key roles is in place.
• Ensure training is provided as required.

Requirements:

Essential

• Minimum 3-5 years Maintenance General Foreman level or higher experience in heavy industry
• Minimum 2+ years management of the maintenance scheduling and work flow function.

Desirable

• Experience managing or supervising an equipment department
• 5 years' experience in managing maintenance.
• Exposure to Project Management tools and techniques.
