Job summary

McKee Foods is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent to join our Plant 2 Engineering team in Collegedale, TN. Lead maintenance and production teams, oversee repairs, preventive maintenance, and installations to drive efficiency, food safety and reliability.

This role requires strong leadership, budgeting, vendor liaison, and safety compliance; reports to Plant Engineering leadership. On-site schedule aligns with a Monday–Friday workweek.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or 2 years of engineering/industrial maintenance substituting for education
  • Ability to read and interpret technical publications, journals, procedures, and regulations
  • Strong written communication skills for reports and manuals
  • Solid mathematical skills including probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Leadership experience in a fast-paced production environment
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems and maintenance operations
  • Familiarity with office software, HR systems, and manufacturing applications

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate maintenance and production teams using Maintenance Excellence Processes
  • Collaborate with plant and corporate engineering on equipment installations and upgrades
  • Apply MOS principles to improve operations, maximize efficiency and reduce waste
  • Support LMS culture and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead predictive and preventive maintenance programs focused on safety and reliability
  • Review production, quality and maintenance reports to cut costs and improve utilization
  • Stay current with electro/mechanical tech in high-speed food processing environments
  • Prepare and manage department budgets and monitor expenditures
  • Liaise with vendors, contractors and corporate partners
  • Recruit, hire and develop team members fostering a positive work environment
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Communicate effectively across the organization and build cross-functional partnerships

Pay Salaried grade 11 $98,777 - $114,465 / year, depending on experience and qualifications. Actual salaries may vary and in some cases may be higher with extensive experience and strong performance. Exempt

Job Summary

McKee Foods is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent to join our Plant 2 Plant Engineering team. McKee Foods is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent to provide leadership and direction for the maintenance team at our food manufacturing facility. This role oversees the repair, maintenance, and installation of machinery, equipment, buildings, and utility systems while driving efficiency, food safety, and reliability.   • Lead and coordinate maintenance and production teams utilizing Maintenance Excellence Processes to ensure repairs, preventive maintenance, and installations are completed safely and effectively
  • Partner with plant and corporate engineering on equipment installations, upgrades, and product introductions
  • Apply McKee Operating System (MOS) principles to improve operations, maximize efficiency, and reduce waste
  • As part of the P2 Leadership Team, champion the implementation of the Lean Management System (LMS)
  • Engage in assigned Value Stream Team (VST) to promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and excellence in safety and operations
  • Proactively lead predictive and preventive maintenance programs with a strong focus on food safety, personal safety, and reducing unplanned down-time
  • Review production, quality, and maintenance reports to develop and implement new procedures that reduce costs and improve labor and material utilization
  • Stay current with electro/mechanical technologies in high-speed automated food processing environments
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets and monitor expenditures
  • Serve as liaison with outside vendors, contractors, and corporate partners
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop team members while fostering a positive, transparent, and engaging work environment
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, values, and regulatory requirements
  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and build strong cross-functional partnerships
Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 3+ years of manufacturing experience or an associate degree with 5+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (2 years of engineering or industrial maintenance may substitute for 1 year of education)
  • Ability to read and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Skilled in presenting information and responding to questions from managers, clients, and employees
  • Solid understanding of mathematical concepts including probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry, with the ability to apply fractions, ratios, and percentages in practical situations
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability in varied situations with limited standardization, including interpreting written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop, plan, delegate, and manage technical teams in a fast-paced production environment
  • Experience troubleshooting and evaluating mechanical systems, with broad knowledge of engineering and maintenance operations
  • Ability to recognize and correctly interpret situations involving policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace; experience with HR systems, inventory software, manufacturing applications, order processing, and project management tools
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education strongly preferred
  • More than 5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing engineering/maintenance fields
  • Experience with TN Operations Maintenance Excellence processes and systems (MME)
