Description

StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic/Specialist to join its outstanding Plant Operations team that supports StarCare's numerous facilities. This position will perform entry level building maintenance and construction work.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, stationary equipment, and vehicles;
  • Operatemotorized equipment;
  • Complete assigned maintenance tasks using appropriate tools and equipment;
  • Perform preventative maintenance on buildings, vehicles, and equipment;
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance and repairs;
  • Assist with building inspections and safety requirements
  • Communicate information to supervisor and other employees;
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and within established timelines;
  • Assist the supervisor or other Center Staff with special projects or assignments;
  • Support building securityand fill in providing support to the Plant Operations functions throughout StarCare Specialty Health System;
  • Share on-call duties on rotating basis with other Maintenance employees;
  • Travel to all Center locations or other citywide sites, using a Center vehicle and/or personal vehicle, is required.
Schedule

This is a full-time/non-exempt position scheduled Monday - Friday, 2pm - 10pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.

Qualifications
  • High School Education or equivalent,
  • Experience in construction, maintenance, and repair work.
Skills & Abilities
  • Working knowledge of operation and safe use of all power and hand tools/equipment common to the maintenance field is necessary.
  • Knowledge of maintenance practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of the construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of buildings, equipment, and utility systems.
  • Skill in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to follow instruction: to work from drawings, diagrams, or blueprints.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees, customers in service and the public.
  • Knowledge and skill in operating standard office equipment (phone, fax, copier, etc.) and personal computer with Microsoft Office products is required.
Additional Requirements
  • Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must have a Texas driver's license and be insurable under the Agency's insurance.
