Position Overview

This position reports to the Superintendent of Parks and involves performing routine maintenance work for the parks division, primarily for special events.

Responsibilities

1. Perform routine parks maintenance.
2. Remove trash from containers and inspect parks for repairs.
3. Inspect parks and athletic facilities for repairs.
4. Operate and maintain equipment used in daily operations; complete reports and submit to supervision.
5. Assist in setting up special events and sports tournaments.
6. Work weekends and evenings as required.
7. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical and Other Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, and transport self between buildings. Ability to drive to various work sites. Work in seasonal temperatures, bending, lifting, and moving equipment for repairs. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals during maintenance activities. Communicate effectively with team members and the public.

Must be able to read and understand work orders and manuals. Skilled in operating hand tools and equipment such as mowers, tractors, gas-powered trimmers, saws, and other gardening and maintenance tools.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License required; CDL preferred.
