Job summary

ABB’s Pinetops, NC facility seeks a Maintenance Technician to lead maintenance planning and execution for production lines and facilities. You will improve reliability, maintainability, and safety while overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance and updating equipment documentation.

This role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is on-site in Pinetops, NC. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma/GED and at least 2+ years as a maintenance technician, with experience in

  • Experience with data analysis/reporting, manufacturing processes, and planned maintenance/backlog
  • Associate degree is a plus (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic/Electromechanical)

Responsibilities

  • Define maintenance plans for new production lines or facilities and improve reliability, maintainability, and safety
  • Resolve major technical, equipment, or facilities problems to boost production line performance
  • Propose process improvements to reduce maintenance and improve energy efficiency
  • Respond to emergencies and outages to minimize production disruption
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment
  • CMMs reporting responsibilities

This position reports to:

Maintenance Supervisor

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the processes in maintaining and preserving the efficiency of all equipment, production lines, and/or facilities, resulting in the optimization of technical and financial resources. Each day, you will oversee execution of ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of equipment, production lines, and/or facilities. You will also showcase your expertise by managing and updating technical documentation of equipment, production lines, and/or facilities.

The work model for the role is: onsite at the Pinetops, NC facility.

HSE Considerations:

Manufacturing plant environment requires a combination of hands‑on and technical tasks. Work may involve occasional lifting of materials, climbing stairs/ladders, and walking. Employees may be required to bend, twist, or stand for extended periods. Frequent use of computers is necessary for data entry, monitoring, and communication. Employees will also handle a variety of tools and equipment, from hand tools to machinery, requiring technical skills and adherence to safety protocols. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel‑toed shoes, is required to ensure a safe working environment. Adhering to safety guidelines is essential for all team members. The work environment requires physical endurance, technical proficiency, and a commitment to maintaining safety standards to contribute to a productive and rewarding workplace.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Defining maintenance plans for new production lines or facilities, and consulting on ways to improve reliability, maintainability, and safety of equipment and/or facilities.
  • Solving major technical, equipment, or facilities problems to achieve higher performance of the production lines.
  • Proposing improvement projects for processes and production lines aimed at reducing ordinary and extraordinary maintenance and optimizing operational and energy efficiency.
  • Responding to emergencies, breakdowns, malfunctions, and other operating problems to minimize disruption in the production process.
  • Responsibility over equipment preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • CMMs reportability.
Qualifications for the role:
  • High school diploma / GED or equivalent education is required
  • 2+ years working as a maintenance technician
  • Experience around Data Analysis & Reporting, Engineering & Manufacturing Processes, Planned Maintenance & Backlog, and Specialist Technical & Engineering Skills.
  • Associate's Degree in related fields (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, or Electromechanical) is a plus.
  • Knowledge and use of tools – tape measure, calipers, grinders, or other hand tools, as needed.
  • Ability to safely use a ladder while performing the job, as needed. Ability to lift, push and pull up to 40lbs
  • Candidates must already possess authorization to work for ABB in the US.
