Job summary

The International Mission Board (IMB) is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to sustain and improve the International Learning Center campus in Rockville, VA. The role covers preventative maintenance, repairs, emergency response, and facility improvement projects to support mission activities.

The position requires hands-on experience across multiple trades, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to work independently while ensuring a safe environment for staff and guests.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3-5 years of facilities maintenance, construction, or related trade experience.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and work order systems.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, and working indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and renovations involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, roofing, and appliances.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on buildings, equipment, vehicles, and campus systems.
• Respond to facility emergencies, including fire alarm, sprinkler, generator, weather-related, and after-hours issues.
• Support campus events and programs through building and grounds operations, including HVAC scheduling, equipment relocation, grounds maintenance, etc.
• Coordinate contractor work and vendor services.
• Operate and maintain maintenance equipment, lifts, and company vehicles.

Join a mission-driven organization where your technical skills help support global missions. As a Maintenance Specialist , you will maintain and improve the International Learning Center (ILC) campus through preventative maintenance, repairs, emergency response, and facility improvement projects.

Location: Rockville, VA
Compensation: $23.57-$27.73 per hour*

The Maintenance Specialist performs preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance on campus buildings, equipment, and systems. This hands-on role requires broad maintenance experience across multiple trades, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting a safe and functional environment for staff and guests.
