Job summary

Child Evangelism Fellowship Inc. is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to repair and maintain a wide range of facilities systems.

The role covers plumbing, electrical, HVAC, fire/life safety and general building fabric, with duties spanning preventative maintenance, safety compliance, and emergency response. The position requires high school completion and 5 years in facilities maintenance, with a possible substitute of 2 years of education or an Associate Degree.

  • Two years of education or Associate Degree may substitute for two years of work experience.
  • Some positions may require two years of experience in a specialized trade.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and maintains facilities systems, components and structures; plumbing, electrical, doors, fire/safety equipment, and related.
  • Maintains HVAC units and performs inspections, filter changes, lubrication and service.
  • Installs waste, vent, and domestic water distribution systems or fabricates needed devices.
  • Performs service and preventative maintenance on small engines and vehicles; troubleshoots and coordinates external service when needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of materials, systems and code requirements for CEF IHQ.
  • Completes work orders; responds to campus emergencies and closures to keep facilities operational.
  • Assists Grounds and Safety Manager with snow/ice removal and safety checks.
  • Follows safety procedures; keeps records and reports up to date.
  • On-call 24/7 to handle emergencies and security issues.
  • Willing to perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

General Responsibilities:

Performs skilled maintenance, repair, adjustment and minor construction work in the trades to ensure that facilities are properly maintained and meet CEF standards. Trains other facilities employees in maintenance trades. Assists the Director of Facilities in planning work, identifying training needs, and in project management as assigned. Duties may fall into a variety of trades not limited to but including carpentry, painting, plumbing, locksmithing, electrical grounds and landscaping, mechanical, energy management, fire and life safety and keys/security system.

The position carries the responsibility for a wide variety of non-routine assignments across multiple trades. This position provides input to management regarding work, including participating in planning maintenance work, participating in project management tasks, and investigating and resolving unusual situations. Realizes the importance of the CEF Culture Points and commits to upholding them personally and in the ministry of CEF (the importance of Godly leadership at every level, of the spiritual welfare of our workers, of prayer as our foundation, of evangelizing children, of a clear and Biblical presentation of the Gospel and of a commitment to excellence, for the glory of God).

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Repairs and maintains a variety of facilities systems, components and structures; repairs building plumbing, low voltage, and line voltage electric systems, door hardware, fire and life safety protection equipment/systems; constructs and maintains indoor/outdoor facilities, fans, lights and related.
  • Maintains HVAC units; cleans and inspects all equipment, completes filter changes, lubricates, maintains and services mechanical and refrigeration and/or cooling systems.
  • May install waste, vent, and domestic water distribution systems, welds or fabricates plates, brackets or needed devices.
  • Performs service and preventative maintenance on small motorized equipment engines and on automotive vehicles; troubleshoots equipment problems and identifies when appropriate for external service provider to make repairs or perform warranty work.
  • Maintains a broad working knowledge of materials, systems and code requirements related to maintenance of CEF IHQ.
  • Completes work orders as assigned.
  • Responds to campus emergencies and closures including adverse weather to ensure that all faci lities are protected and remain operational.
  • Assists the Grounds and Safety Manager in regular snow and ice removal, fire systems and equipment checks and start-up operations as assigned.
  • Knows and understands all safety procedures of CEF.
  • Maintains appropriate records and reports.
  • On-call 24/7 to handle emergency and security issues.
  • Willingly performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, noise and temperature extremes.
  • Position involves frequent bending, standing, kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching below and above shoulders, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. while performing job duties.
  • Wrist, hand and finger dexterity is required to operate various equipment and materials.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of facilities maintenance, construction or repair experience.
  • Two years of education or training, or an Associate Degree, in the facilities maintenance trades may substitute for two years of work experience.
  • Some positions may require two years of experience in a specialized trade.
  • Must have a valid driver's license for operation of a motor vehicle in Missouri and possess an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to effectively use email and automated calendaring systems; use the assigned two-way radios; take time to keep the work area safe, clean and neat as they work; make arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately; learn and apply health and safety regulations; work independently with minimal supervision; understand and follow oral and written directions; optimize efficiencies provided by automated maintenance management and service request tools; work from blue prints, shop drawings and sketches; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
