The City of Raleigh Public Utilities Department, also known as Raleigh Water, provides water and sanitary sewer services to approximately 198,000 metered customers and a service population of about 600,000 across Raleigh, Garner, Wake Forest, Rolesville, Knightdale, Wendell, and Zebulon. Our mission is to deliver safe, sustainable water services while protecting public health and supporting the economic, environmental, and social vitality of our communities.
Our Water Distribution division is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to join our team. Maintenance Specialists are responsible for repairs, preventive maintenance, utility locating, and investigations within our water system. They perform maintenance and operate equipment for the City’s distribution system, supporting the maintenance, replacement, and repair of water assets such as services, mains, and fire hydrants.

Work Hours: 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
This position requires working on an on-call rotating repair crew, which includes 8 hours of paid standby time per week, with the potential to earn overtime pay at 1.5 times the normal hourly rate for hours worked over 40.
