Job description

Clean and keep orderly assigned buildings.

Duties involve a combination of the following:

• Sweeping
• Mopping
• Removing trash and other refuse
• Maintain outside of buildings and yards.

Make minor repairs and perform preventative maintenance on buildings.

Duties involve a variety of functions to include but are not limited to:

• Painting
• Using plaster compound to repair holes/cracks in walls.
• Hanging doors and installing door locks, repairing doorframes
• Making minor plumbing repairs.
• Replacing lighting fixtures
• Checking that fire safety equipment is in working order.
• Interacting appropriately with adolescents with mental health and behavior problems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED desired.
• Prior experience in building maintenance.
• Must possess good writing and communication skills.
• A valid NYS Driver’s License is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience and competence in previous employment.
• Compliance with health regulations for physical examination and Mantoux testing.
• Be team players.
• Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and clients within our organization.

The maintenance person will report directly to the Program Manager and will assume other maintenance duties as needed.
