Job description

How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:

Coordinates and monitors the maintenance, repair, minor renovation, construction, and administrative activities of maintenance personnel and contracted personnel assigned to perform building maintenance in and around the facility.

  1. Monitors the care and maintenance of facilities, supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of building systems. Consults with Supervisor/Manager/Director of Plant Engineering on assignments and keeps them informed of activities, needs, and problems. Advises on building and system conditions requiring emergency repairs and improvements.
  2. Coordinates plans, schedules, and implements activities for maintenance staff, ensuring timely completion of repairs, renovations, and general maintenance. Schedules preventative maintenance for facility systems and equipment under responsibility.
  3. Monitors ongoing work, prepares reports, reviews work orders, prioritizes tasks, and ensures completion as specified. Establishes activity objectives and standards, monitors workflow, and ensures compliance with codes and regulations. Maintains data accuracy in work order systems.
  4. Assists in selecting, orienting, and training maintenance staff. Promotes professional development and participates in departmental in-services.
  5. Acts as job foreman for in-house renovation projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. Plans, coordinates, and schedules renovation activities, inspects buildings, and collaborates with other personnel to complete projects efficiently.
  6. Organizes and maintains inventories of tools, equipment, and supplies. Inspects and schedules maintenance of machinery according to manuals and specifications. Maintains compliance with policies, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Participates in developing budgets, reports, and research for new techniques and materials.
What We Require:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; college preparation or associate's degree preferred. Technical training or apprenticeship in trades is highly desirable.

Experience: Five years in maintenance trades, with three to five years at an advanced level or in construction management.

Licensure: Valid Virginia Driver's License required.

Other Qualifications: Knowledge of blueprint reading, drafting, estimating, building standards, codes, and regulations. Training and supervisor certification may be required and provided. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and work order systems is expected. Position is considered "emergency personnel" during weather emergencies and may require travel and work at other facilities.
