Job summary

E.W. Wylie, a long-standing transportation and logistics provider based in Fargo, ND, is seeking a Shop Assistant to support our maintenance operation.

This role is hands-on, active, and essential to ensuring equipment can be serviced effectively. You will assist technicians and staff with non-mechanic tasks, help with inventory and securement materials, and support load transfers and tarp repairs as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) and ability to follow directions and learn processes.
• Follows verbal and written instructions accurately to complete tasks.
• Safely uses basic hand and power tools for securement assembly.
• Works with maintenance staff and drivers to ensure smooth workflow.
• Identifies issues, takes appropriate steps, and knows when to seek guidance.
• Keeps materials and inventories organized and properly stored.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance Support: Assists shop staff with non-mechanic tasks that contribute to maintenance workflow.
• Tarp Repair: Inspects and repairs flatbed and glass tarps using approved methods and materials.
• Inventory Assistance: Supports technicians by helping with equipment inventories and stocking needs.
• Load Transfer Support: Assists with load transfers and coordinates securement materials.
• Securement Assembly: Uses hand and power tools to build poly-logs, corners, and other securement protection for glass loads.
• Parts Retrieval: Uses a company vehicle to pick up parts and materials from vendors as directed.
• Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors that align with the role’s scope.
