Job summary

United States Steel Corporation is seeking a Shift Manager – Agglomerator Maintenance to lead maintenance operations, troubleshoot equipment, and apply engineering principles to improve reliability and efficiency.

The role will supervise technicians and coordinate with vendors and shop staff to plan and execute tasks, while upholding safety, quality, and teamwork standards. Experience supervising crews in industrial settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 5 years supervising crews in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Ability to work rotating shifts including extended workdays, weekends, and holidays.
• This is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.
• Preferred: Bachelor's or Associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience supervising unionized employees is a plus.
• Strong maintenance practices and reliability knowledge.
• Familiarity with pumps, conveyors, fans, motors.

Responsibilities

• Administer the U.S. Steel safety program and maintain a safe work environment.
• Role model safety, environmental compliance, quality and productivity.
• Directly supervise union employees.
• Coordinate with vendors, contactors and shop groups to execute tasks.
• Interpret specs, blueprints and work orders and assign duties.
• Drive maintenance crew productivity while ensuring safety and timeliness.
• Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
• Maintain inventories of spares for efficient operations.
• Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance with maintenance staff.
• Follow, improve and develop maintenance programs.
• Devise cost-saving strategies and contribute to maintenance plans.
• Develop methods to eliminate maintenance problems and improve product quality.
• Schedule crews, payroll, reporting, and safety procedures.
