Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Maintenance Repairman 2 to support Wilkes-Barre Readiness Center operations. This role involves performing hands-on upkeep across painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and grounds maintenance to keep the facility safe and functional for staff and veterans.

Work hours are 7.5 per day, 37.5 per week, 1st shift, Monday–Friday. Telework is not available; salary may be non-negotiable in some cases. You will receive further communication by email.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 or equivalent.
• Four years of building/plant maintenance work involving at least two trades (electrical, mechanical, or building).
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Paint surfaces and complete interior/exterior painting for rooms, walls, ceilings, and fixtures.
• Install/repair sinks, faucets, drains, piping, and monitor backflow testing.
• Remodel rooms, install drywall/flooring, repair windows/doors, and perform other structural tasks.
• Install circuits, replace lighting, maintain systems, and support fire, security, and alarm equipment.
• Repair heating, cooling, ventilation equipment, and service appliances.
• Remove snow, maintain landscaping, and support general cleaning duties.

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is looking for a Maintenance Repairman 2 to support daily operations at the Wilkes-Barre Readiness Center. This role gives you the chance to work with many different systems while making a real difference for the team. This position supports the Wilkes-Barre Readiness Center by performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks that keep the facility safe and functional. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Painting Work: Prepare surfaces, mix paint, and complete interior and exterior painting for rooms, walls, ceilings, and fixtures
• Plumbing Tasks: Install and repair sinks, faucets, drains, and piping, and monitor backflow testing as needed
• Carpentry Repairs: Remodel rooms, install drywall and flooring, repair windows and doors, and complete other structural tasks
• Electrical Service: Install circuits, replace lighting, maintain systems, and support fire, security, and alarm equipment
• HVAC Maintenance: Repair heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment, and service appliances when required
• Grounds Care: Remove snow and debris, maintain landscaping, and support general cleaning duties

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements

• You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
