Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation, Butler County Maintenance Organization, seeks a Maintenance Repairman 1 to keep facilities safe and functional. You will support a team and learn a variety of trades, performing custodial tasks, grounds care, and basic repairs.

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30-minute lunch; travel and overtime may be required. Starting salary is $36,831. A PA Class C Driver's License is required.

Qualifications

• Two years of general maintenance work involving building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
• License required: Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
• Eligible for state employment with standard background checks.

Responsibilities

• Custodial tasks including cleaning floors, lavatories, and waste removal.
• Grounds care such as mowing, landscaping, and snow removal.
• Perform basic repairs using carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tools.

As a Maintenance Repairman 1 for the Department of Transportation, Butler County Maintenance Organization, you will take pride in keeping buildings and grounds safe and functional. This position provides custodial support, basic repairs, and grounds upkeep to maintain clean, safe, and efficient facilities. As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will perform the following duties:

• Custodial Tasks:Perform cleaning duties including floors, furniture, lavatories, and trash removal
• Grounds Care:Maintain outdoor areas through mowing, raking, landscaping, and snow removal
• Basic Repairs:Make simple fixes using carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tools
• Equipment Use:Operate and maintain hand tools, motorized tools, and assigned equipment
• Safety Practices:Follow safety procedures, report hazards, and use protective equipment
• Work Support:Assist skilled workers, run errands, and complete tasks as directed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Travel, overtime, and shift work required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.

• Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
