Job summary

College of Southern Nevada seeks a facilities support professional to serve as the sole assistant to the supervisor in planning and coordinating facility management activities across multiple campuses. You will review contractor work for compliance, develop maintenance policies, and provide cost estimates for the facility budget.

The role may supervise lower level staff, train teams, and ensure adherence to safety procedures and equipment operating standards.

Qualifications

  • Four years of progressively responsible experience under the supervision of journey level trades persons in two or more of the major building or mechanical trades which included responsibility for performing a variety of repair and maintenance activities, laying out jobs and ordering materials; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

  • Developing maintenance policies and procedures for the facility.
  • Providing information regarding facility needs and estimated costs for inclusion in the facility budget.
  • May supervise lower level staff by providing training, assigning and reviewing work, and evaluating performance.
  • Complete work orders, projects, or verbal assignments with an 85% or better success rate in two or more trades (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, equipment mechanical) and escalate when needed.
  • Ensure familiarity with proper equipment operating procedures and safety precautions.
  • Report damaged or missing equipment to supervisor immediately.
  • Lockout/tag out as needed.
  • Travel between campuses and to vendors as required.
  • Work within policies and procedures (NRS NAC, Board of Regents, CSN).
  • Report errors or concerns to supervisor.

  • Successfully complete work orders, projects, or verbal assignments (measured by lack of call backs or repeat work orders and/or supervisor inspection or supervisor review) with an 85% or better success rate in two or more of the following: plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, equipment mechanical and notifying your Supervisor or Lead when you need assistance or are unqualified to complete the task 100% of the time.
  • Ensure familiarity with proper equipment operating procedures and safety precautions.
  • Report damaged or missing equipment to supervisor immediately.
  • Lockout/tag out as needed.
  • Travel not only between campuses and satellites, but also to vendors as required.
  • Work within NRS NAC, Board of Regents, and College policies and procedures.
  • If you find an error or have a concern immediately report it to your supervisor.
  • Perform all tasks necessary to accomplish the day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure all preventative maintenance activities are performed per schedule.
  • Assist in the daily maintenance of equipment to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Provide work order status updates daily in TMA.
  • Take and pass all safety training and other assigned training courses in the allotted time.
Minimum Qualifications

Weekly Schedule

Monday - Friday 7am to 3:30pm. Must be able to travel between campuses.

Starting Salary

Grade 30, CBA A, E, F Step 1: $54,810.00 Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1. *This position is contingent upon ongoing and available funding.
