Job summary

Kraft Heinz's Beaver Dam Plant is seeking a Project Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain production equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operations. The role involves reading blueprints, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

The position requires hands-on skills, precision measurement, and the ability to work with SAP, CMMS, and shop tools. Weekend hours and extended shifts may be required to support production needs.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Troubleshooting of operating errors and corrective actions.
  • Ability to read blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
  • Ability to manage time and coordinate tasks in a maintenance environment.
  • Proficiency with CMMS, SAP, and office software.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses mechanical problems and corrects them using blueprints or manuals.
  • Dismantles machines to access defective parts using hand and power tools.
  • Assembles or repairs pipe systems, machinery, or equipment.
  • Performs routine maintenance and preventive actions.
  • Reads equipment manuals, blueprints, sketches, and work orders.
  • Works with Predictive Technology Equipment to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Uses shop equipment (lathe, mill, drill press, torch, saws, grinders, welders).
  • Operates cutting torches or welding equipment to join metal parts.
  • Works as a team member to complete assignments.
  • Maintains tight measurement tolerances (.000x).
  • Follows site safety standards (LOTO, PPE).
  • Documents time spent in SAP.
  • Coordinates projects (plans, bids, setup and installation).
  • Resolves problems independently and in groups.
  • Manages spare parts with storeroom.
  • Follows FSQ requirements such as GMPs to support QRMP.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Team Leader.

Job description

Project Technician

Schedule: 5PM to 1AM, weekends can be required

Starting Wage: $34.00/hr PLUS $2/hr Shift Premium

Repairs and maintains all types of production equipment, including new equipment, while maintaining a quality production environment. Generates and implements ideas for plant improvements and modification of existing equipment. Fabricates complex parts for existing and new machines by following blueprints and sketches. Work with other departments in major equipment upgrades and modifications. Trains other employees on the theory and operation of plant equipment.

Primary Role And Responsibilities
  • Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to accurately correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
  • Dismantles machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
  • Assembles, installs, or repairs pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment
  • Performs routine maintenance, such as inspecting pumps, belts, checking fluid levels, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Reads and follows equipment manuals, blueprints, sketches, layouts, and Maintenance Work Order Requests
  • Works with Predictive Technology Equipment (Thermography, Ultrasound, and Vibration) to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Uses shop equipment to perform repairs (Lathe, Mill, Drill press, Torch, Saws, Grinders, and Welders)
  • Operates cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Works as a team member while completing all assignments efficiently
  • Works with tight measurement tolerances (.000x)
  • Follows all site safety standards (LOTO, PPE)
  • Documents time spent in plant on the Maintenance Work Order in SAP
  • Coordinates projects (plans, bids, set-up and installation)
  • Resolves problems independently and in groups
  • Works with the storeroom to manage spare parts and inventory
  • Responsible to follow FSQ requirements such as GMPs and other daily/job specific duties to support QRMP
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Team Leader
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, including detailed knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics
