Job summary

Balfour Beatty Communities in Houston, TX seeks a Maintenance Porter to uphold the appearance and safety of our communities. You will support the maintenance team and perform routine tasks to deliver world-class service to residents.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year groundskeeping/maintenance experience, basic tool knowledge, and a valid driver’s license. You’ll work independently, multitask, and follow safety and environmental policies to keep properties well-maintained.

Qualifications

• Groundskeeping/maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to use basic tools and perform routine repairs.
• Must have an active and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Clean grounds, breezeways and common areas.
• Keep stair towers clean and waste-free.
• Ensure exterior steps have treads and are safe.
• Remove snow and apply salt in winter.
• Prepare vacant units for occupancy.
• Inspect building exteriors and lighting daily and report issues.
• Provide responsive, professional interactions to residents.
• Learn and support general maintenance of property systems.
• Adhere to safety and environmental policies.

About the role

Our Maintenance Porters have the general responsibility for maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of the community both inside and outside and may assist the maintenance technician team with diagnosing maintenance issues, making necessary repairs to ensure we are providing world-class service to our valued residents.

What you'll be doing

• Cleaning, raking, and collecting debris from community grounds, breezeways and common areas.
• Keeping all stair towers clean and free of waste.
• Ensuring all exterior steps have treads and are safe.
• Removing snow and applying salt in inclement weather.
• Preparing vacant units for occupancy, including any necessary clean-out tasks.
• Performing daily inspections of building exteriors and lighting; reporting any required repairs or issues to the maintenance supervisor in a timely manner.
• Delivering the highest level of resident satisfaction through responsive, consistent, positive and professional interactions.
• Learn and provide maintenance support for general maintenance and orderliness of property HVA, mechanical, electrical, utilities and lighting systems. Including inspections and repairs.
• Ensuring the successful execution of all company safety and environmental policies and procedures.

Who we're looking for

• Minimum of 1 year of groundskeeping/maintenance experience
