Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Alabama seeks a Maintenance Planning Superintendent to lead the Maintenance Planning Department, improving equipment availability and reliability across the mill.

You will manage maintenance systems, coordinate outages, supervise staff, and partner with operations to ensure safety and regulatory compliance while controlling costs.

Candidates should have engineering degree and 7+ years' experience in maintenance, preferably in the paper industry.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred or related field with 7+ years of experience.
• Experience within the paper industry preferred.
• Supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages maintenance systems, including repairs, preventive maintenance, inspections, and records.
• Develops action plans to address maintenance inefficiencies and repeat failures.
• Sets objectives for safety, training, quality, cost, and productivity; oversees budget.
• Coordinates annual outage efforts.
• Oversees contractors and contract work.
• Develops salaried department employees through communication, training, supervision.
• Interfaces with all operating departments.
• Investigates problems to ensure efficient operation and identifies root causes.
• Manages department costs to keep expenditures within budget.
• Coordinates with maintenance and technical departments.
• Ensures compliance with mill, company, state, and federal safety policies.
• Monitors culture of professionalism, customer satisfaction, engagement, respect and trust.
• Supports safety and environmental compliance.
