Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Maintenance Planner in Alabama to plan, schedule, coordinate and report on maintenance work for the assigned department. The role focuses on optimizing labor, materials and equipment usage while ensuring safety and efficiency.

You will develop complete work order packages, assess material availability, and prepare scopes of work with accurate cost estimates. Outage planning, contractor coordination, and BOM maintenance are key responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology or equivalent; 5–8 years in heavy industrial maintenance/engineering teams.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with project management software (MS Project) and JD Edwards.

Responsibilities

• Provide complete work order packages including scope, specs, safety, material requirements, and scheduling details.
• Determine material/resource availability; write purchase requisitions as needed.
• Develop and maintain PM work orders and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
• Lead weekly planning coordination meetings for area of responsibility.
• Assist in backlog review and weekly outage scheduling.
• Coordinate with contractors, ensure clear SOWs, and supervise as needed.
