Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Rockport Works is seeking a Maintenance Planner and Shift Manager in the Finishing Department to lead hourly skilled-trades and supervise daily maintenance tasks.

You will manage maintenance records, prepare outage reports, and coordinate with Engineering and Day Manager to align priorities, safety, and efficiency. Strong technical knowledge and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Safety protocols and environmental/quality standards adherence.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient computer skills including database entry and MS Office.
• Electrical or mechanical knowledge with related work experience.
• Strong negotiation and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Willingness to work extended hours, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Maintains records of planned and completed maintenance activities.
• Prepare outage-related reports as assigned (Pre-outage Cost, Outage Critic).
• Utilizes CMMS database and Gantt charts to manage maintenance activity.
• Evaluate requests for maintenance services; determine priority and procedures.
• Direct and oversee troubleshooting and maintenance actions on equipment.
• Coordinate with Day Manager for daily work assignments based on priorities.
• Develop and implement maintenance, quality, and safety procedures.
• Manage backlogs to maintain completion compliance of maintenance program.
• Coordinate with Engineering on plans for reconstruction or new equipment.
• Direct communication with service providers, vendors, and operations staff.

Location: Rockport, INCleveland-Cliffs, Rockport Works is looking for a Maintenance Planner and Shift Manager in our Finishing Department. This frontline leadership role is responsible for providing daily and/or downturn first-line supervision and direction to hourly skilled-trades workers through the successful assignment and completion of maintenance duties.Summary of Responsibilities:Maintains records of planned and completed maintenance activities related to TS16949 standardsPrepare outage-related reports as assigned. (Pre-outage Cost, Outage Critic, etc.)Utilizes Computerized Maintenance Management System database and Gantt Charts to manage maintenance activityEvaluate requests for maintenance services for validity, parts, priority, procedures, skills needed, and date of completion. Communicate with service providers, vendors, engineering, maintenance and operations personnel-both written and verballyObtain costs estimates for personnel, parts, and supplies to be used during scheduled or unplanned maintenance eventsEnter requisitions in the Oracle system for service or suppliesDirect and oversee troubleshooting and maintenance actions as assigned on production machinery and facilitiesDevelop and coordinate with Day Manager daily work assignments based on determined operational and maintenance prioritiesDevelops, maintains and implements maintenance, quality and safety procedures, as directed by Section ManagerManage assigned backlogs to maintain established completion compliance of maintenance programMonitors delays, break-ins, and production turn reports, and assigns or develops maintenance practices to address line conditions or equipment issuesCoordinates with Engineering to develop plans for reconstruction or installation of new equipment, machinery, or buildingsOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalentCommitment to enforcing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with environmental and quality standardsStrong organization skillsProficient computer skills, including database entry, Microsoft Excel, Word, Project and PowerPointProven electrical or mechanical knowledge and basic related work experienceStrong negotiation, interpersonal and communications skillsFlexibility to work extended hours, nights, and weekendsApplicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United Stated on a full-time basisPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Business or related Technical field or combination of education / experienceJourneyman rating or licensure in function overseenCleveland-Cliffs Inc. is the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America.
