The Maintenance Mechanical Technician is responsible for providing safe and timely installations, routine and preventative maintenance, and repair to industrial machinery, and/or other plant equipment.Summary of Responsibilities:Safely perform repairs on a wide variety of equipment, piping, pumps, process fans, motors, hydraulic systems, compressors, ventilation fans, air receivers, conveyor installations, chutes, etc. in both inside and outdoor applications in a continuous operating environmentAssess the equipment operating condition and carry out appropriate repairsUtilize knowledge and training to detect mechanical equipment malfunctionInform and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose mechanical problems or repair machinesUtilize a CMMS system to prepare requests for maintenance services (RMS) providing detailed information to expedite repairsUtilize equipment drawings or standards to inspect parts to ensure they conform to purchase ordersDismantle defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired partsAttend outage, safety and staff meetingsOperate mobile equipmentWork closely with Hourly Production Technicians, Mechanical & Electrical Engineers, Maintenance Electrical Techs, and Maintenance PlannersAbility to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple/changing prioritiesOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Three to five years related experience and/or trainingEquivalent combination of education (Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college) and experienceDemonstrated commitment to safety and qualityAbility to read, understand, and follow operating instructions and procedure manualsEffective communication skills – verbal and writtenPreferred Qualifications:Associates Degree or 2-year technical school degree/certification, or3-5 years related experience/trainingCleveland-Cliffs Inc. is the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America.
