Job summary

Insight Global seeks a Senior Maintenance Planner for a large-scale pharmaceutical facility in Wilson, NC. You will develop, coordinate, and maintain preventive, predictive, calibration, and utility maintenance plans to support GMP compliance and site reliability.

You will partner with Maintenance, Reliability, Utilities, Calibration, Engineering and Operations to plan, schedule, document, and execute maintenance in SAP S/4HANA, drive asset reliability, and support shutdowns and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability, Industrial Technology, or related field.
• 4+ years of maintenance planning and scheduling experience in a pharmaceutical/regulatory manufacturing environment.
• Experience planning for production equipment, utilities, and calibration programs.
• Hands-on SAP S/4HANA maintenance planning, scheduling, and asset management.
• Knowledge of CMMS, preventive maintenance, and equipment reliability.

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Maintenance Planner to support a large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This individual will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, calibration, and utility maintenance plans that support site reliability, compliance, and operational readiness.

The ideal candidate will partner closely with Maintenance, Reliability, Utilities, Calibration, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure maintenance activities are effectively planned, scheduled, documented, and executed in alignment with GMP requirements. This role will play a key part in the implementation and management of maintenance programs within SAP S/4HANA and will help drive equipment reliability across production and utility systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage preventive, predictive, corrective, and calibration maintenance plans for production equipment, utilities, instrumentation, and facility systems.
• Create, schedule, prioritize, and release maintenance work orders through SAP S/4HANA.
• Partner with maintenance technicians, engineers, and reliability teams to build effective job plans, task lists, labor estimates, and maintenance strategies.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize operational disruptions while ensuring regulatory compliance and equipment reliability.
• Maintain and update equipment master data, maintenance plans, task lists, bills of materials, and asset records within SAP S/4HANA.
• Collaborate with calibration, production maintenance, utilities, and engineering teams to ensure all required maintenance activities are properly planned and executed.
• Support maintenance shutdowns, outages, and turnaround activities through detailed planning, resource coordination, and material readiness.
• Monitor work order backlog, schedule compliance, PM completion metrics, and maintenance KPIs to identify improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate procurement and inventory requirements to ensure spare parts, materials, and contractor resources are available to support scheduled maintenance activities.
• Review maintenance history and equipment performance data to optimize maintenance frequencies and improve asset reliability.
• Support deviation investigations, CAPAs, change controls, and quality notifications related to maintenance activities.
• Participate in cross-functional planning meetings and support operational readiness initiatives for new equipment and systems.
• Ensure maintenance documentation complies with GMP, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain maintenance planning and scheduling procedures, standards, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
• 4+ years of maintenance planning and scheduling experience within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or other highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience planning maintenance activities for production equipment, utility systems, and calibration programs.
• Hands-on experience utilizing SAP, preferably SAP S/4HANA, for maintenance planning, scheduling, and asset management.
• Strong understanding of CMMS processes, preventive maintenance programs, and equipment reliability principles.
• Experience supporting GMP-regulated manufacturing operations.
• Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting greenfield startup, expansion, or operational readiness projects.
• Maintenance, reliability, or technical operations background with exposure to hands-on maintenance activities.
• Knowledge of utility systems including HVAC, clean utilities, compressed air, purified water, and plant infrastructure.
• Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), FMEA, root cause analysis, or Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
• APICS, CPIM, CMRP, or similar professional certifications.

Day-to-Day Activities

• Build and maintain maintenance schedules for production maintenance, utilities, instrumentation, and calibration teams.
• Review and prioritize maintenance work requests and create executable job plans.
• Coordinate labor, materials, contractor resources, and equipment availability.
• Manage maintenance planning activities within SAP S/4HANA, including work orders, task lists, maintenance plans, and master data.
• Work directly with maintenance technicians and engineers to improve maintenance strategies and equipment reliability.
• Support site shutdown planning, startup readiness activities, and ongoing continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor maintenance metrics and provide schedule updates to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
