The Maintenance Planner plays a critical role in optimizing Ventura Air Services’ maintenance operations by ensuring efficient scheduling, resource allocation, budget forecast and execution, and cost control for scheduled maintenance. This position is responsible for planning maintenance events with minimal disruption to flight operations while maintaining compliance with FAA regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Scheduling & Coordination:

  • Develop, maintain, and execute short- and long-term maintenance schedules to maximize fleet availability.
  • Coordinate scheduled maintenance events, ensuring minimal operational disruptions.
  • Monitor aircraft utilization and forecast maintenance needs accordingly.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Control to adjust plans based on real-time operational changes, hand off inducted and ongoing work to Maintenance Control while smoothing for future maintenance plan deviations.
  • Implement fleet-wide maintenance flow strategies to optimize aircraft availability.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure all maintenance activities align with FAA regulations, company policies, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update electronic maintenance tracking systems (e.g., CAMP).
  • Assist in tracking and implementing Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Service Bulletins (SBs).
  • Implement fleet-wide maintenance flow strategies to optimize aircraft availability.
  • Coordinate with vendors to secure required maintenance slots, manpower, and materials.
  • Ensure all necessary parts and tooling are available before scheduled maintenance events.
  • Monitor and track vendor performance to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Audit existing and new vendors for ongoing partnerships, service levels, and compliance.

Budget & Cost Management:

  • Assist in preparing cost estimates for scheduled maintenance events.
  • Track and analyze maintenance costs, identifying opportunities for savings.
  • Provide budget forecasts and recommendations to the Director of Maintenance.
  • Work closely with Flight Operations to align maintenance planning with scheduling needs.
  • Communicate effectively with Maintenance Control, Quality Assurance, and external vendors.
  • Participate in daily and weekly planning meetings to proactively address potential maintenance risks.
  • Key liaison between Maintenance Planning and Maintenance Control to ensure seamless execution of maintenance activities

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in aviation maintenance planning, scheduling, or related roles.
  • A&P Certificate preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of FAA regulations and maintenance tracking programs (e.g., CAMP, JetInsight).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and maintenance planning software.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Experience in vendor management, cost control, and compliance tracking preferred
  • Must be enrolled in a FAA drug program in accordance with DOT 49 CFR part 40 and FAA 14 CFR- Part 120.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer.
  • Occasional walking, reaching, bending, and handling of materials.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
