Job summary

Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI) in Wisconsin operates six Midwest manufacturing plants, producing a significant share of American-type and processed cheeses.

The cooperative also markets brand products through foodservice, retail and ingredient channels and has a history spanning over 50 years of dairy farming partnerships with cheesemakers. AMPI seeks an experienced maintenance professional to manage parts inventory, coordinate with mechanics and maintenance staff, and drive efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of an accurate inventory of parts and tools required for daily operations. Stock required parts and tools efficiently to minimize downtime and prepare purchase orders.
  • Collaborate with mechanics to accurately receive parts used for repairs and preventive maintenance from parts inventory.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance department and operation planning to ensure areas or facilities are serviced in a timely manner, prioritizing equipment availability.
  • Improve the efficiency and cleanliness of the maintenance shop through 5S: Sort, Set-in-order, Standardize, Shine and Sustain.
  • Develop and maintain a system for easy access to and accountability for small parts and tools needed by the plant operations team.
  • Work with regularly scheduled contractors to develop service agreements to minimize emergency repairs; review operations to minimize downtime and solve problems timely.
  • Collaborate with plant management to support maintenance projects: scope projects, identify contractors, obtain quotes, issue POs, and schedule work.
  • Identify opportunities for grants or incentives available for energy-efficient upgrades.
  • Assist with the implementation and operation of maintenance software to manage preventive and predictive maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain CMMS software records and ensure data entry to provide accurate management statistics.
  • Be responsible for working within a budget under the maintenance manager, controlling inventory budget accuracy and turnover.
  • Communicate and coordinate with teams as required.

Job description

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Description AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plant where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:

  1. 1. Assist in the development of an accurate inventory of parts and tools required for daily operations. Stock required parts and tools in an efficient manner to minimize unplanned downtime without stocking excess inventory. Prepare purchase orders, receive and properly store the merchandise.
  2. 2. Collaborate with mechanics to accurately receive parts used for repairs and preventive maintenance from parts inventory.
  3. 3. Coordinate with the maintenance department and operation planning; ensure areas, departments or facility are professionally serviced in a timely manner emphasizing consistent equipment availability and performance.
  4. 4. Improve the efficiency and cleanliness of the maintenance shop through the principles of 5S: Sort, Set-in-order, Standardize, Shine and Sustain.
  5. 5. Develop and maintain a system for easy access to and accountability for small parts and tools needed by plant operations team.
  6. 6. Work with frequently scheduled contractors to develop service agreements to minimize the high cost of emergency repairs. Constantly review the operation of plant equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate, and solve problems in a timely manner.
  7. 7. Collaborate with plant management to support maintenance projects. Develop a scope for the project, identify potential contractors, obtain quotes, submit PO's, and schedule contractors as directed.
  8. 8. Identify opportunities for grants/incentives available for energy efficient upgrades.
  9. 9. Assist with the implementation and operation of maintenance software to manage preventive and predictive maintenance tasks and needs.
  10. 10. Maintain and update CMMS software records and ensure entry by others of necessary data for the facility in order to provide accurate management statistics.
  11. 11. Responsible for working within a budget under the direction of the maintenance manager, controlling inventory budget accuracy, turns, and other inventory management.
