Job summary

Flatbush Development Corporation in Brooklyn is seeking a part-time Maintenance Personnel to handle maintenance, repair and cleanliness at the Cornerstone center. The role reports to the Cornerstone Program Director and involves shifts at Kingsborough Community Center and Glenwood Community Center with specified hours.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, reliability, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Receives repair/maintenance requests and responds in a timely manner.
• Performs work per standard procedures and schedule.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, stairways and grounds.
• Uses floor equipment to sweep, mop, and wax floors.
• Vacuum cleans rugs, carpets and furniture.
• Dusts furniture and equipment.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors and sills.
• Performs minor carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs.
• Paints touch ups and finishes.
• Empties wastebaskets and restocks restrooms.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Sets up/breaks down chairs, tables and equipment for meetings.
• Follows safety rules and reports work completed to PD/AD.
• Maintains inventory and communicates needs to PD/AD.
• Keeps closets and storage organized.
• Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Maintenance Personnel reports directly to the Cornerstone Program Director and will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and cleanliness of the Cornerstone center.
Work Hours and Shifts- 25 Hours

Kingsborough Community Center

6:00 PM- 9:00 PM

Pay Rate: $25.00 Per hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Receives verbal or written repair and maintenance requests from the Program Director or Assistant Program Director and responds in a timely manner.
• Performs work according to standard procedure and by the center's operational schedule.
• Clean rooms, hallways, restrooms, supply rooms, offices, stairways, windows and outside grounds as needed.
• Uses brooms, mops, and floor equipment to sweep, mop, strip and wax floors.
• Uses vacuum cleaners to clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and blinds.
• Dusts furniture and equipment.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors and sills.
• Minor carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs.
• Performs touch up and finishes painting.
• Empties wastebaskets.
• Replenishes restroom supplies and cleans restrooms.
• Replaces light bulbs
• Sets up/Break down chairs, tables and equipment in meeting rooms, and function rooms.
• Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures.
• Reports work accomplished orally or in written work order to PD or AD.
• Maintains supply inventory list and communications with PD or AD with items that need to be replenished.
• Maintains an organized closet and storage workspaces.
• Other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES

• Must demonstrate timeliness, attendance and most importantly, professionalism.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral or written instructions.
• Ability to relate to officials, staff and public in a courteous manner.
• Ability to work occasionally in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
