Job summary

Behr Iron & Metal, part of Alter Trading Corporation, seeks a Maintenance Technician for its NFR plant on the night shift (Mon–Fri, 10-hour days). Primary duties include maintaining conveyors and motor/gearbox assemblies to keep the plant efficient and operational.

The role involves welding and fabrication on stationary equipment, PMs on sorting lines and conveyors, and troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric systems. Documentation of maintenance records is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Oversee and direct work when needed.
• Familiarity with yard vehicles, forklift, loaders, and material separators a plus.
• Conveyor Belt knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant productivity by proactively managing maintenance functions.
• Welding and fabrication on stationary equipment.
• Perform PMs on downstream sorting lines, conveyors and machines.
• Diagnostics and minor repairs to industrial equipment including mobile equipment (forklifts, loaders, skid steers).
• Troubleshoot, maintain and repair machinery and non-ferrous plant equipment (e.g., Eddy Current Separator, System Conveyors).
• Work with hydraulic, pneumatic and electric systems, PLC, valves, cylinders, bearings and motors.
• Coordinate with operations to ensure equipment runs properly and schedule maintenance as required.
• Prepare and maintain maintenance records and daily reports.
• May assist with ordering parts, welding, fabricating and minor electrical repairs.

Job description

We are looking for someone to maintain and improve our Non Ferrous Recovery (NFR) plant to keep it efficient and operational on our Night Shift. Our NFR locations further process recycled materials to reduce what is sent to the landfills. The Maintenance Technician's typical schedule is Monday through Friday 10 hour shifts with Fridays being a planned maintenance day. The primary jobs duties maintenance to conveyor systems and motor and gear box assemblies.

ABOUT YOU:

• Maintains plant productivity by proactively managing maintenance function.
• Welding and Fabrication work on stationary equipment
• Stationary equipment by performing PM’s on:
  • Downstream sorting lines, conveyors and machines
  • Diagnostics and minor repairs to industrial type of equipment including Mobile Equipment, Forklifts, front end loaders, skid steers, truck & Trailers.
• Perform troubleshooting, maintenance and repair work for machinery and various non-ferrous plant equipment e.g. Eddy Current Separator, System Conveyors, etc.
• Work with hydraulic, pneumatic and electric systems, PLC, valves, cylinders, bearings, and electric motors
• Check with key operations (forklift, loader, and separator) to be sure all equipment is running properly; and schedule maintenance as required.
• Prepare and maintain all maintenance records, and daily reports.
• May be involved in a variety of other responsibilities including ordering of parts, welding, fabricating and performance electrical repairs (minor).

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Interpersonal skills to oversee and direct work when required.
• Familiarity with yard vehicles, forklift, loaders, and material separators a definite plus
• Conveyor Belt Knowledge, preferred.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 – 50 pounds.
• Welding (stick) and fabricating skills are required

Maintenance Tech Pay Rate: Dependent on experience.
