Job summary

Alter Metal Recycling in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Maintenance employee to keep our plant equipment operating. The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic will service conveyors, bearings, motor boxes and troubleshoot mechanical issues.

Hours are Sunday through Thursday, 6:00pm–6:00am, with Friday possible based on operational needs. The role includes performing PMs, maintaining records, and coordinating with operations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Familiarity with yard vehicles, forklift, loaders, and material separators is a plus.
• Must be able to lift 30–50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant productivity by proactively managing the maintenance function.
• Perform PMs on conveyors and plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical issues on machinery like conveyors, eddy current separator, trommels, etc.
• Keep proper parts inventory and maintenance records/daily reports.
• Coordinate with operations; assign and review maintenance work; provide on-the-job training as needed.
• Order parts and sometimes perform welding, fabricating and minor electrical repairs.
• Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned.

Job description

Alter Metal Recycling is looking for a Maintenanceemployee at its Milwaukee, WI facility. Industrial Maintenance Mechanics play a crucial role in our operation. As an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic you will keep our facility equipment operating by performing work on conveyors, changing motor boxes, changing bearings and troubleshooting mechanical issues.

Hours: Sunday thru Thursday, 6:00pm to 6:00am. Friday possible based on operational needs.

Summary:

• Maintains plant productivity by proactively managing maintenance function.
• Ensure proper parts inventory
• Maintain facility equipment
• Performing PM’s on:
• Perform troubleshooting, maintenance and repair work for machinery and various plant equipment e.g. Eddy Current Separator, System Conveyors, Trommels, etc.
• Work with hydraulic, pneumatic and electric systems, PLC, valves, cylinders, bearings, and electric motors.
• Check with key operations (forklift, loader, and separator) to be sure all equipment is running properly; and schedule maintenance as required.
• Prepare and maintain all maintenance records, and daily reports.
• Assign, review, and check work of maintenance done by employees, providing on-the-job training as needed; eliminate ordinary work difficulties.
• May be involved in a variety of other responsibilities including ordering of parts, welding, fabricating and performance electrical repairs (minor).
• Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned.

• Downstream sorting lines, conveyors and machines.
• Diagnostics and minor repairs to industrial type of equipment including Mobile Equipment, Forklifts, front end loaders, skid steers, truck & Trailers.

• Knowledge on system conveyers is necessary.

Safety:

Wears all necessary PPE when working in the yard. Follows company safety standards at all times.

Requirements:

• Perform the basic functions of arithmetic; add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. Compute ratio, rate and percent.
• Familiarity with yard vehicles, forklift, loaders, and material separators a definite plus
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 – 50 pounds.
