Deborah's Place is seeking a part-time Maintenance Technician to handle general upkeep for agency buildings. You will perform preventive maintenance, basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry work, and janitorial duties across our facilities.
The role requires 2-3 years of related maintenance experience; HVAC certification is preferred; strong organizational and communication skills; and a valid Illinois driver’s license with reliable transportation.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for general maintenance and upkeep for all agency buildings and maintenance requests. This position performs preventative maintenance tasks, basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry work; and janitorial duties.
Part-time position
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
Required Licensure and/or Certification: HVAC Certification preferred
Job Experience: 2-3 years of experience as a maintenance engineer; 2-3 years of experience in property management, preferably with homeless population; experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting, etc.
Mathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret graphs; Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, proportions and percentages
Special Knowledge & Skills: Excellent organizational and follow-up skills; ability to read reports, operating manuals, and schematics; ability to detect equipment and motor malfunctions; strong oral and written communication skills; excellent engagement and interpersonal skills; ability to read reports, operating manuals, blue prints and schematics; computer literacy including email, internet and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; Computer competency including Microsoft Office applications and property management software; Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines and response effectively in emergency situations. Valid Illinois driver's license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation
