Job summary

Deborah's Place is seeking a part-time Maintenance Technician to handle general upkeep for agency buildings. You will perform preventive maintenance, basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry work, and janitorial duties across our facilities.

The role requires 2-3 years of related maintenance experience; HVAC certification is preferred; strong organizational and communication skills; and a valid Illinois driver’s license with reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• HVAC Certification preferred
• 2-3 years of experience as a maintenance engineer; 2-3 years of experience in property management, preferably with homeless population; experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting, etc.
• Mathematical skills: basic arithmetic, units conversion, ability to read graphs and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance plans for all buildings, grounds, equipment, and vehicles.
• Complete building work orders in a timely manner and provide daily updates on maintenance and repair issues on all areas of responsibilities.
• Perform carpentry, painting, plumbing, repairs, and other assigned tasks, example apartment turnovers.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are properly stored and organized.
• Work with Chief Maintenance Engineer in planning and executing on-going building maintenance and improvements.
• Work with Chief Maintenance Engineer to monitor and maintain an inventory control system of equipment and supplies.
• Work with vendors and others as appropriate to complete work orders and provide proper documentation.
• Attend required educational programs and staff meetings.
• Represent Deborah's Place mission and values to participants, visitors and others.
• Perform other duties assigned.
