Job summary

The University of Central Florida is seeking a Maintenance Technician II focused on paint care to keep campus facilities safe, functional, and visually appealing. You will troubleshoot issues, perform painting tasks, and support central shops and departments as needed.

This role requires intermediate painting skills, knowledge of building systems maintenance, and the ability to work independently or with a team, including on-call responsibilities. A valid driver’s license may be required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and 3 years of relevant experience.
• Or a high school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience per Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
• Knowledge of building systems maintenance (plumbing, HVAC, electrical) and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform painting and maintenance tasks for university buildings and equipment following university standards and safety guidelines.
• Apply paints, varnishes, stains, urethanes, enamels, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and related tools.
• Prepare surfaces by removing old finishes, filling cracks and holes, and ensuring proper surface conditions before painting.
• Mix and match paint colors, including custom color matching for aged, discontinued, or faded finishes.
• Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner, including documenting labor hours, materials used, and work performed.
• Identify and report maintenance, safety, sanitation, or repair concerns to supervisors.
