Job Description

Responsible for painting and finishing all surfaces, interior and exterior. This position also requires physical mobility, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift 50–70 lbs., including climbing ladders, working on rooftops, working in confined spaces, and other physically demanding duties.

Job Duties
  1. Work under the direction of the Superintendent of Physical Plant and the Assistant Superintendent of Building and Grounds, performing all duties as assigned.
  2. Responsible for painting all interior and exterior surfaces, including furniture, floors, walls, ceilings, trim, curbs, parking lots, and other areas as assigned.
  3. Perform all duties observing safety procedures and utilizing proper equipment (safety glasses, gloves, caution tape, tags, etc.).
  4. Submit work orders upon completion of tasks with any discrepancies noted.
  5. Work with contractors, subcontractors, and other vendors on campus.
  6. Maintain inventory of tools and equipment.
  7. Assist with preventative maintenance.
  8. Help resolve problems and perform general maintenance such as painting, welding, changing light bulbs, mechanics, janitorial tasks, etc.
  9. Perform all duties in a timely manner as assigned.
  10. Collaborate with other maintenance personnel as required.
  11. Work on weekends, holidays, evenings/nights, and at other hours as needed.
  12. Maintain a valid MS Driver’s License.
  13. Upgrade skills and performance through employee development.
Mandatory Qualifications
  • (M1) High School Diploma or GED.
  • (M2) Minimum of 3 years of experience in painting, drywall, taping, and floating.
  • (M3) Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • (M4) Effective communication skills with college personnel at all levels.
Desirable Qualifications
  • (D1) Experience in carpentry and general maintenance.
  • (D2) Proficiency in computer operations.
