Maintenance Packaging Technician - 2nd Shift

Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic A is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, replacing, and modifying all processing, packaging, and facility equipment to ensure optimal quality and efficiency.

Position Functions
  1. Operate the CMMS system to complete work orders and log maintenance issues.
  2. Communicate effectively with production personnel and other mechanics to identify and resolve issues.
  3. Perform electrical repairs and troubleshoot PLC controls, motor controls, and circuits.
  4. Read schematics, drawings, and manuals to establish facts and draw conclusions.
  5. Support maintenance of facility equipment such as wastewater systems, compressed air, refrigeration, and safety systems.
  6. Understand and support company objectives related to productivity, food safety, quality, customer service, and costs.
  7. Perform daily inspections, emergency repairs, routine adjustments, and preventive maintenance.
  8. Maintain organized documentation and records.
  9. Assist other departments in resolving mechanical issues and maintaining production efficiency.
  10. Support process improvement projects and safety teams.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Proficient in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting and emergency repairs.
  • Ability to use multimeters and measurement instruments.
  • Effective communication skills in English; bilingual in Spanish and/or Polish is a plus.
  • Teamwork and cross-training abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS software.
  • Strong math skills and ability to read schematics and manuals.
  • Experience with PLC controls, fabrication, welding, and food processing industry preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience or technical training.
  • High school diploma/GED or technical/mechanical certification required.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods.
  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Operate light motorized equipment and tools safely.
  • Work in various conditions, including cold, hot, high places, and outdoors.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels requiring hearing protection.
Additional Qualifications
  • Food processing industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass the Ramsay exam.
