Job description

Our Maintenance Technician 2 supports Mativ’s Filtration and Advanced Materials Function. This individual is responsible for the safe and effective maintenance of the plant in accordance with the production schedule, including preventive maintenance and installation of equipment. The shift schedule is 4 PM–12 AM.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure every employee on the shift works in an accident‑free environment.
  • Communicate any issues that arise to leadership through the lockout/tagout process as needed.
  • Use all PPE and ensure compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Attend safety meetings.
  • Maintain a clean production area and workshop.
  • Familiarize with OSHA regulations and recognize and correct any weaknesses.
  • Properly utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including mandatory use of eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, and sleeves as required.
  • Apply Mativ Lockout/Tagout procedures correctly.
  • Safely use an authorized utility knife.
  • Complete necessary housekeeping duties in the work area at all times.
  • Comply with all OSHA/Company safety requirements.
  • Know the locations of MSDS, First Aid Supplies, fire extinguishers, and exits.
  • Participate actively in workplace safety.
  • Notify supervisor of accidents, near misses, or unsafe working conditions.
  • Maintain an orderly and clean work area to promote a safe work environment.
  • Respond promptly to problems within the plant.
  • Communicate the needs or concerns of equipment breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Rebuild equipment and assemblies as needed.
  • Modify existing equipment as needed.
  • Complete required preventive maintenance in a timely manner.
  • Communicate any problems or concerns that arise during preventive maintenance to the appropriate individual for further action.
  • Complete tasks involved in the installation and/or removal of equipment effectively and promptly.
  • Comply with the cGMP Program.
  • Ensure calibrations are completed.
  • In the absence of operating personnel, halt all processes that pose a threat to food safety and notify supervision.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years of electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Read and comprehend English.
  • Ability to coordinate the activities of the maintenance technician.
  • Ability to read basic schematics and understand simple ladder logic.
  • Identify and use basic electrical test equipment (volt, ohm, and amp meters).
  • Knowledge of 3‑phase power and circuits.
  • Basic knowledge of DC motors and controls.
  • Basic knowledge of AC motors and controls.
  • Knowledge of basic machine mechanics.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and ability to recognize and correct system weaknesses.
Preferred
  • Familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
  • Familiarity with PLCs and basic troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E safety requirements.
