Job summary

Wabtec is seeking an early‑career engineer to design reliable Maintenance of Way equipment. You will work with our Aftermarket Engineering team to develop functional components, perform calculations, and create drawings for production.

You will collaborate across departments to ensure schedule adherence and cost targets while applying 3D CAD tools and Creo where preferred. Responsibilities include design reviews, BOM creation, and troubleshooting during prototyping and field testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Up to two years’ industry experience.
• Experience in design of structures and mechanisms.
• Experience with electrical control and hydraulic systems.
• Results driven with strong communication skills.
• Able to work with cross-functional teams.
• Proficient with MS Office.
• Experienced in 3D CAD modeling, Creo preferred.
• Mechanism analysis using hand calculations or simulations.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize design work on components as assigned by Project Leader.
• Use CAD systems to layout, design and modify equipment and produce drawings.
• Perform engineering calculations on new and existing designs.
• Maintain design schedule to ensure on-time completion.
• Create designs within defined schedule and cost targets and support production.
• Advise Project Leader on design status regularly.
• Create BOMs and write engineering change orders.
• Interface with Production, Testing, Sourcing, Planning, Suppliers or Customers.
• Present and participate in design reviews.
• Ensure function, reliability, safety and performance of equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems.
