Job summary

Wabtec Corporation is seeking an engineer to own product lines, drive improvements, and release engineering drawings and BOMs. You will coordinate prototype builds, manage schedules, and liaise with vendors to keep projects on track.

The role demands 3+ years in engineering/manufacturing, SolidWorks and PDM/Windchill expertise, GD&T and DFM/DFM knowledge, and a passion for high-performance railroad and industrial components. This position is on site in the United States.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
  • Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • 3+ years’ experience in engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years’ experience in solid modeling (SolidWorks) and Product Data Management (SolidWorks PDM or Windchill).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerancing analyses, materials and manufacturing processes, and DFM/DFM principles.
  • Background in lean/continuous improvement environments.
  • Passion for high-performance engineered products.
  • Experience in rail, transit, braking systems, or industrial components (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of product lines, driving improvements in performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Coordinate Engineering Drawing Release Notices: complete and communicate Engineering drawing/BOM releases.
  • Data entry: manage business system changes to support company requirements.
  • Support new product development, sustaining efforts, and project management: coordinate prototype builds, quotes, timelines, and vendor coordination.
  • Continuously seek improvements in performance, cost, and reliability and implement design improvements.
  • Transform concepts into robust engineering solutions using SolidWorks and 2D drafting tools.
  • Ensure designs meet customer, regulatory, and performance requirements.
  • Design and execute engineering validation tests for performance, durability, and compliance.
  • Analyze test data and implement design improvements.
  • Research and select qualified suppliers to support innovation and product needs.
  • Incorporate customer and operational feedback into product enhancements.
  • Apply Lean principles to eliminate waste and improve design-to-production flow.
  • Clearly communicate design intent, risks, and progress to stakeholders.

How will you make a difference?

You will create value by solving complex design challenges and implementing engineering changes to existing products and releases of new products. You will be responsible for driving product sustaining efforts, from concept through implementation, and managing engineering releases.

What do we want to know about you?
  • Do you have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited)?
  • Do you have experience with Oracle or other similar ERP systems?
  • Are you proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)?
  • Are you able to manage your time effectively?
  • Do you have 3+ years’ experience working in an engineering and manufacturing environment?
  • Do you have 3+ years’ experience in solid modeling (SolidWorks preferred) and Product Data Management (Solidworks PDM or Windchill preferred)?
  • Do you have a strong understanding of: GD&T and tolerancing analysis, materials and manufacturing processes, and DFM/DFA principles?

What will your typical day look like?
  • Take ownership of product lines, driving improvements in performance, cost, and manufacturability
  • Coordinate Engineering Drawing Release Notices: Responsible for completing and communicating Engineering drawing/BOM releases
  • Data Entry: Manage business system changes to support company requirements
  • Support new product development, sustaining efforts, and project management: Coordinate prototype builds by obtaining quotes, managing project timelines, tracking key deliverables, coordinating with outside vendors and internal departments, and overseeing non-production part requests to ensure projects stay organized and on schedule
  • Continuously seek improvements in performance, cost, and reliability and implement creative effective solutions.
  • Transform concepts into robust engineering solutions using SolidWorks and 2D drafting tools
  • Ensure designs meet customer, regulatory, and performance requirements
  • Design and execute engineering validation tests for performance, durability, and compliance
  • Analyze test data and implement design improvements
  • Research and select qualified suppliers to support innovation and product needs
  • Incorporate customer and operational feedback into product enhancements
  • Apply Lean principles to eliminate waste and improve design-to-production flow
  • Clearly communicate design intent, risks, and progress to stakeholders

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $68900-98200 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
