Job summary

International Paper in Garden City, KS seeks a Maintenance New Hire to diagnose, repair, and install plant mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. You will perform lubrication, PMs, welding, fabrication, and equipment upgrades to keep production running efficiently.

The role requires reading mechanical/hydraulic diagrams, using SAP for work orders, and collaborating in a safety-focused team. OT/weekends may be required; own tools are needed. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Qualifications

• Diagnose, repair and install mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Maintain lubrication and preventative maintenance on plant equipment.
• Read mechanical prints, motor diagrams and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams.
• Operate hand tools and shop equipment safely.
• Work weekends/overtime as needed and pass pre-employment testing.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and install plant mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for all equipment.
• Perform lubrication and preventive maintenance on equipment (corrugator, diecut, folder, conveyors, etc.).
• Read mechanical prints, motor diagrams, and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components, motors, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, bearings, and power transmission.
• Fabricate equipment with welding (arc and gas) as required.
• Adjust equipment to improve productivity.
• Identify unusual sounds indicating potential trouble.
• Dismantle equipment to access parts; manage spare parts inventory.
• Maintain records and housekeeping to plant standards.
• Attend meetings, complete trainings, and stay safety-conscious.

$30.30/hr

Sign on Bonus:

$1000 after 30 days,

$500 after 6 months,

$500 after 1 year

Retention Bonus:

$500 after 1 year

Additional lump sum after 2 years

The Job You Will Perform:

• Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, replacing, and installing plant mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for all plant equipment. Including machinery maintenance, lubrication, PM’s, trouble shooting, repairing, upgrading, welding, fabricating, and possible installations.
• Responsible for lubrication/ preventative maintenance on equipment, such ascorrugator, diecut, folder, conveyors, stackers, banders etc.
• Be able to read and understand mechanical prints, AC/DC motors, pneumatic diagrams, and hydraulic diagrams.
• Troubleshoot, repair and install mechanical components, AC/DC motors, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, bearings, and power transmission.
• Perform fabrication of equipment (welding both arc and gas) to desired needs.
• Make adjustments on equipment to improve productivity.
• Identify and locate unusual sounds that indicate potential trouble.
• Dismantle equipment to gain access to replace defective parts.
• Maintaining adequate inventories of spare parts.
• Accurately and completely preparing and maintaining records and other paperwork.
• Maintaining work areas to plant standards of housekeeping.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
• Predictive maintenance data collection and PM planning.
• Minimum requirements are to pass the Maintenance AON test and an interview. Requires the ability to work in a team environment as well as the ability to work additional and flexible hours including weekends as needed. Must be willing and able to work all shifts depending on company business needs. Must have your own set of tools.
• THIS IS A SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION

The Skills You Will Bring:

• Must have working knowledge of various types of measurement equipment (dial calipers, heat sensing guns, etc.).
• Able to examine and determine to what degree parts have worn, and repair or replace parts as needed.
• Ability to use hand tools to remove/replace and repair parts. This all will be done in a safe manner.
• Operate all types of hand tools (i.e. drill press, grinder, wire brush, acetylene torch, etc.) normally found in a Maintenance shop.
• Must possess excellent attendance and safety record with a demonstrated ability to follow directions.
• Requires the ability to work in a team environment as well as the ability to work additional and flexible hours including weekends as needed.
• Must be willing and able to work all shifts depending on business needs.
• Individual needs excellent teamwork, cooperation, and problem solving skills. Must be dedicated, self-motivated, and self-starter, able to work independently.
• Flexibility, a positive attitude, and a commitment to working safely is required.
• Employee will need computer skills to work in SAP to acquire notifications, work orders, requisition parts for work orders, and enter their time against these work orders.
• Will attend all meetings, complete training as required, and be safety conscious at all times to help promote a safe working environment.
• Successful candidate must pass standardized International Paper pre-employment testing in place for Maintenance positions.
