Job summary

International Paper Fort Smith North Container is seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to support plant operations. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems, troubleshoot PLCs, read schematics, and work with vendors to ensure equipment reliability.

The role requires five years of maintenance or vocational training in mechanical disciplines, ability to pass drug screen and background checks, and strong teamwork in a safety‑driven

Qualifications

• Must pass tests: aptitude, drug screen, health assessment, and background check.
• Five years in maintenance skill areas or five years vocational/technical education.
• Qualified maintenance technician with electrical, mechanical, and reading drawings skills.
• Electrical maintenance experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety rules and practices for maintenance activities.
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
• Read equipment manuals and blueprints; troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to achieve results.

Shift - Fixed Evening Panama schedule (2-2-3), alternating weekly for every-other weekend 3-day weekend

ANDone of the following

• Five (5) year experience in any of the following Maintenance Skill Areas: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, LUBRICATION, WELDING, AUTOMOTIVE MAINTENANCE, OR PIPEFITTING.

OR

Five (5) year vocational/technical education in the Mechanical Discipline: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, WELDING, OR PIPEFITTING.

The Job You Will Perform:

• Following all safety rules and practices. Ensure product safety
  1- performing preventative maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, measuring positions, repositioning components, and observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels
  2- performing emergency / break down maintenance as necessary to support plant operations3 - referencing equipment manuals and other technical literature; knowledge of detailed mechanical equipment drawings and ability to use detailed blueprints in carrying out troubleshooting and equipment repair4 - contacting and working with vendors and subcontractors to achieve desired results5 - accurately using measurement and test equipment; knowledge of types of pitch, diameter of gears (spur, bevel, right angle, herringbone and rack and pinion); ability to install and check for backlash and wear and maintain gears; knowledge of all tools and proficient with scales, tape measures, micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, torque wrenches and pullers6 - performing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam system, and other repairs and installations as needed; read and interpret pneumatic and hydraulic schematics and diagrams; ability to design, build and install simple pneumatic and hydraulic systems7 -safely operating the boiler, and maintaining adequate operation steam pressure (greater than or equal to 180 PSI)8 - knowledge of mechanical drives and their function and troubleshooting9 - knowledge of rigging (coma longs, port-a-power, blocking, chain falls, slings, chokers, hydraulic jack, machine dollies, booms and spreader bars
  10 - proficient in all types of welding (torch, stick, mig and tig)
  11 - Identify types of bearing and class of fits (roller, ball, tapered & cylindrical and spherical) identify proper sizing of belts, sheaves, sprockets & chains.
  12- maintaining clean and organized work areas, and cleaning up work areas as part of completing assigned tasks
  13- accurately and completely preparing and maintain maintenance records and other paperwork
  14 - utilize maintenance computer system to enter notifications, time, research parts, manuals, drawings, etc.
  15 - trouble-shooting and solving problems
  16 - maintaining teamwork with other associates
  17 - keeping supervision informed of problems and/or unusual situations
• Qualifications for maintenance technicians include the ability to perform the duties / responsibilities of the job with or without accommodation; the ability to accurately use and read a variety of measuring devices; well-rounded electrical, mechanical, and machine shop skills and experience; the ability to learn, and the ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team.
  The maintenance supervisor evaluates maintenance technician qualifications.
• Electrical Maintenance Experience Preferred

3. Proven experience as an electrician

4. Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems

5. Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and

electrical drawings and blueprints

6. Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines

7. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability

8. Knowledge of the function and wiring of PLC’s

9. Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment

10. Knowledge of the functions of motor frequency drives

11. This is a Safety Sensitive position

12. This is an interview position and will require taking the maintenance skills test prior to

interviewing.
