Job summary

International Paper seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Associate to maintain and repair plant equipment at our Selma, AL facility. The role operates on a 7:00 am to 3:30 pm schedule, Monday through Friday, as an hourly full-time position.

Pay is $31.49 per hour with comprehensive benefits. Candidates must meet age, education, and US employment requirements and have relevant maintenance experience or education in specified disciplines. Safety and shift flexibility are expected.

Qualifications

  • Age 18+ and eligible for US employment.
  • HS diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
  • 1 year maintenance discipline experience or 1 year vocational/technical education in maintenance disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and repair of plant equipment.
  • Work in an industrial environment with safety protocols.
  • Operate and troubleshoot mechanical systems and rotating equipment.

Position Details
  • Position Title: Mechanical Maintenance Associate
  • Pay Rate: $ 31.49 /hr.
  • Physical Location: 601 County Road 78
  • Category/Shift: Hourly Full-Time
  • Days ( 7 am- 3 :30pm – Monday- Frid ay)
Job Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Minimum high school graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • Eligible for employment in the US
Must have one of the following
  • One (1) year experience in any of the following Maintenance Skill Areas: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, LUBRICATION, WELDING, AUTOMOTIVE MAINTENANCE, or PIPEFITTING;
  • One (1) year vocational/technical education in the Maintenance Disciplines: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, LUBRICATION, WELDING, AUTOMOTIVE MAINTENANCE, or PIPEFITTING
Must be willing to meet the following requirements
  • Work in industrial conditions (may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery, elevated working surfaces, and confined spaces (with proper safety training and safety protection))
  • Undergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employment
  • Undergo a job‑related health assessment as a condition of employment
  • Submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employmentWork any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule
  • Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification
  • Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis
  • Wear required safety equipment
It is preferred that candidates have the following skills and/or experience(s)
  • Associates degree or certification(s) in any IP Core Maintenance Skills or related disciplines (Millwright, Machinist, Lubrication, Welding, Automotive Maintenance, or Pipefitting)
  • Relevant work experience in an industrial environment.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with:
  • Pump repair and replacement
  • Repacking pumps and valves
  • Repairing mechanical drive systems, rotating assemblies
  • Bearing installation, maintenance, and replacement
  • Replacing motors, valves, and gaskets
  • Replacing and repairing cylinders
  • Production machine/equipment maintenance
  • Rotating equipment
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, tables, graphs, and diagrams
  • Industrial safety procedures and equipment
  • Gear reducers
  • Basic welding
  • Gears
  • Roll repair and replacement
  • Knowledge of mobile equipment
  • Product moving systems
  • Installing screw pipe and tubing
  • Maintenance-related computers and software
  • Facility maintenance and repairs
