Job summary

International Paper in Fort Smith, AR seeks a Maintenance Supervisor to lead daily maintenance operations, train staff, and ensure safety and quality. You will drive planning, budgeting, and KPI tracking using KIWI and SAP while coordinating with the plant leadership team on projects and work orders.

The role requires supervisory experience, strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or relevant leadership experience; industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Computer skills required; Microsoft Office; SAP and/or KIWI experience highly preferred.
  • Prior supervisory/leadership experience is required.
  • Prior mechanical/electrical maintenance troubleshooting experience; corrugated experience preferred.
  • Experience with predictive/preventive maintenance and inventory planning preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated personnel supervisory skills.
  • Action oriented; customer/quality focus; organizational and team-building strengths.

Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance staff in daily production; train, plan, assign and direct work; support performance evaluations.
  • Lead and motivate employees by example to maintain safety and quality standards.
  • Communicate operational information clearly to crews, management, and external partners.
  • Use KIWI and SAP to track maintenance KPIs, downtime and reliability metrics.
  • Assist with work orders and report on work order efficiency for leadership.
  • Plan maintenance projects; schedule personnel and manage budgets and parts inventory.
  • Schedule predictive/preventative maintenance to keep equipment healthy.
  • Coordinate with clerks and machine champions on kitting and process improvements.
  • Oversee Machine Champion Process and monthly condition-monitoring reviews.
  • Support EH&S initiatives (air permits, storm water, hazmat, waste water, safety inspections, training).
  • Maintain open communication with plant leadership about issues and solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Job You Will Perform:

  • Assist maintenance employees in support of daily production, to include training, planning, assigning, and directing work. Participate with Maintenance Manager in evaluating employee performance; resolving conflicts & disciplining employees; promoting safety, quality standards and teamwork.
  • Lead and motivate employees by setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance to work efficiently and effectively, while ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Effectively communicate operational information in both oral and written format at all levels: crew members, other supervisors, plant management, office personnel and outside customers and vendors.
  • Utilizes systems, including KIWI and SAP, to track maintenance key performance measures, including mechanical/electrical downtime, maintenance reliability guides, maintenance breakdowns, etc.
  • Assist Maintenance Manager withthe work order system and tracks work orders through completion. Compiles a report related to work order efficiency for the facility leadership team.
  • Help toplanmaintenance projects including scheduling of personnel (employees and contractors), maintaining project budget, accessing machine manuals, ensuring needed parts are in inventory, working with production team to schedule time and ensuring work orders are in the system, updated and completed throughout the project
  • Works in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager and local leadership team to schedule predictive/preventative maintenance activities to keep all equipment in good working order.
  • Responsible for working with maintenance clerk and machine champions to use kitting processes throughout the manufacturing facility to complete projects.
  • Responsible for Machine Champion Process, to include a monthly review with machine champions of machine condition monitoring routes, and backlog work orders.
  • Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, support Environmental Health & Safety initiatives in the facility potentially including: air permitting, storm water compliance, HAZMAT, waste water compliance, roof maintenance, Infrared inspections, compressed air management, air handlers, fire & safety system inspections, contractor training, employee training, electrical, hot work, etc.
  • Maintainopen communications with managers and front line leaders at the plant to ensure they are informed of problems and/or unusual situations
  • Other Duties as assigned

The Skills You Will Bring:

Associates Degree or relevant leadership service; Industrial Maintenance preferred.

Computer skill set is required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.Prior experience utilizing SAP and/or KIWI is highly preferred

Prior supervisory/leadership experience and/or demonstrated situational leadership skills is required

Prior mechanical, electrical and/or maintenance troubleshooting experience is preferred. Corrugated experience is highly preferred

Prior experience with predictive/preventative maintenance programs and inventory planning is preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
