Job summary

Clearwater Paper at Cypress Bend is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Millwright (C Mechanic) to maintain and service mill machinery, ensuring safe, efficient operations and minimizing unscheduled downtime across the site.

The role requires basic proficiency across multiple crafts (Electrical, Instrumentation, Millwright, Machinist, HVAC) and hands-on work on a 12-hour rotating shift, including nights, weekends and holidays, with strict adherence to safety, PPE, and lockout/tagout procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2 years in manufacturing/industrial environment or recent completion of Electro/Mechanics/Industrial Electrical program preferred.
• Must follow all safety procedures including PPE and lockout/tagout.
• Able to work in physically demanding environment with temperature extremes and noise.
• Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs frequently and heavier with team lifting/overhead crane.

Job Summary

The Millwright position for the maintenance team at the Cypress Bend location, is responsible for maintaining machinery throughout the mill to ensure efficient operations and decreased unscheduled machine down-time.

• Proficiently perform at least one (1) of the recognized primary crafts and act as a knowledgeable helper in all other recognized primary crafts including:
• Electrical
• Instrumentation
• Millwright
• Machinist
• HVAC
• Change out equipment
• Safely operate a variety of tools (power, machine shop, gasoline powered, hand tools, etc.)
• Safely operate company vehicles including forklift, overhead crane, clamp truck
• Hold self and others to high level of safety standards, ensuring workplace safety policies are upheld and safety rules are followed (lockout/tagout procedures, appropriate PPE, safe driving practices, proper lifting techniques, etc.)
• Participate as needed in safety incidents and help investigate root cause
• Operate, maintain, and inspect equipment to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, procedural reporting, and documentation requirements

What you will need

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required)
• Minimum 2 years continuous work experience in a manufacturing, production, industrial, or labor-intensive work environment (preferred) OR recent completion of technical program in Electro/Mechanics or Industrial Electrical programs, associates degrees preferred.
• Understand and comply with all manufacturing safety procedures including personal protective equipment (required)
• Able to work in a physically demanding environment including temperature extremes, loud noise, avoiding slipping, tripping, and falling hazards
• Physically capable of manual labor that includes bending, walking, sitting, and climbing in and around machinery and equipment for entire 12-hour shift
• Able to lift, up to 40 lbs frequently, between 40 and 50 lbs occasionally, over 50 lbs minimally. When lifting 50 lbs and above, Operator will use team lifting and overhead crane assistance.
• Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid.
• Able to work a 12-hour rotating shift including nights, weekends, and Holidays. Able to work overtime as needed.
