Job summary

Eaton Corporation in Reno, NV is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Technician to join our GEIS team. You will troubleshoot and repair electronic and mechanical malfunctions on plant machines, facilities, and related equipment. Install and service PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motors, and power distribution components.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED plus 1 year maintenance experience or technical school/associate degree.
  • Experience reading electrical/mechanical blueprints and schematics.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic and mechanical malfunctions on plant machines, facilities, and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical power presses, power transmission devices, conveyors and un-coilers.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair PLCs, HMIs, VFD drives, vision systems, MCCs, PDCs, motors and control circuits.
  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on all production equipment.
  • Inspect electrical systems to identify hazards and ensure NEC code compliance.
  • Install and repair electrical systems and components using diagrams and tooling.
  • Install new or used manufacturing equipment; fabricate as needed; operate lifts and perform welding/prototyping as required.
  • Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.

Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Reno, NV will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.Preferred Qualifications:• 2 years of PLC (programmable logic controller) troubleshooting or programming experience.• Five (5) years’ experience in the electrical field, in an industrial/ manufacturing environment• Previous experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens Software to troubleshoot PLC’s, HMI’s, and Drives• Journeyman Electrician Certified• Previous mechanical power press experience• Previous roll forming experience• Previous sheet metal fabrication• Previous gas Metal Arch Welding (GMAW) experiencePosition Requirements:Must have a valid driver’s licensePrevious experience with CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System)Microsoft office suite experience (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word)Must be able to start on 1st shift for training purposes (orientation, onboarding training for 4-6 months).Ability to interface with vendors to troubleshoot, setup and acquire parts for various types of machineryWorking knowledge of production machinery and equipment such as clutch/brake systems, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, compressed gas systems, water systems, & cooling systemsPhysical Demands:• Able to stand on feet continuously during working shift: kneeling, bending, and climbing required.• Able to regularly lift 50 pounds without assistance• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company policy and procedure• Exposure to high noise level (ear protection may be required in some areas)• Exposure to high traffic areas with forklift activity• Indoor and outdoor exposure to weather• Work environment exposes to oils, lubricants, and solventsAll positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
