Harford County seeks a skilled maintenance worker for essential building maintenance trades encompassing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical, and plumbing tasks. This role requires specific expertise, a GED or diploma, and offers a robust benefits package, including health insurance and retirement plans.
This is semi-skilled work involving building maintenance trades in the area of heating/ventilation and air conditioning, electrical and plumbing. Work is performed under general supervision of the Superintendent, Maintenance Mechanic II & III and/or Crew Leader.
(The following examples illustrate the work performed in the positions in the class. Positions may require some or all of these examples, depending on the organization of work within the department. The list is not inclusive. A position may require duties not listed, if necessary, to accomplish the work of the department.)
Performs major and minor maintenance repairs on building and/or equipment.
Replaces equipment, parts, and materials as necessary.
Diagnoses trouble and makes necessary repairs.
Makes routine checks of buildings and equipment and makes repairs as necessary.
Fills out worksheets relating to labor, time, and materials.
Maintains records of all work performed and prepares reports as directed.
Drives acounty vehicle to carry out assignments, as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
EDUCATION:
Graduation from high school, vocational-technical school, or possession of a GED certificate.
EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year as an apprentice in the heating/ventilation and air conditioning, electrical or plumbing field.
