Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic Night Shift position performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Performs all phases of maintenance, including electrical and mechanical systems (fabricating, welding troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing required preventative maintenance).
• Maintains all equipment in good working condition.
• Follows preventative maintenance schedule.
• Able to perform routine services and troubleshoot and repair all rendering equipment.
• Maintains clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
• Assists personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
• Performs machine repair and installation such as replacing motors, rebuilding gear boxes, running threaded piping, welding, replacing belting, bearings, and using cutting torch.
• Conducts daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment as needed.
• Diagnoses and replaces equipment parts with little or no direction.
• Communicates well with operators and management.
• Responsible for using assigned personal protective equipment and observing all safety rules and regulations.
• Attends safety meetings and may serve on Safety Committee.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to push, pull, move, or lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequently required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Regularly reach with hands and arms.
• May need to work nights and weekends; available "on call" as needed.

Work Environment

• Work in a rendering facility with wet, slippery floors and high or cold temperatures.
