Job summary

Amcor LLC is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support our Fremont, IN facility. You will diagnose, repair and maintain electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems to ensure quality products are released to customers.

You will read PLC and motor control information, replace worn components, and document work while following lockout/tagout and safety procedures. The role requires the ability to lift up to 100 lb and communicate effectively with team members.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to lift 100 pounds and carry 50 pounds safely.
  • Experience diagnosing plastic injection molding equipment and accessories.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, remove and replace electronic, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and optic systems.
  • Read programmable controller information to diagnose complex problems.
  • Diagnose and repair AC and DC motor controls; replace belts, pulleys, cables, gears and related equipment.
  • Maintain clean, orderly work areas and log all work performed.
  • Operate a forklift safely; adhere to lockout/tagout and safety programs.

Troubleshoot, remove and replace different types of electronic, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and optic systems. Pre-inspect parts or equipment to be repaired to determine what parts, supplies, forms, tools, repair and shop equipment are required; and communicate with the Maintenance Manager. Read programmable controller information to diagnose complex problems. Diagnose and repair AC and DC motor controls. Replace belts, pulleys, cables, chains, bearings, gears and related equipment. Communicate with other plant personnel when requested to, to review deficiencies. Accurately log all work performed. Maintain work areas in a clean orderly manner. Operate a forklift safely and efficiently. Be thoroughly familiar with plant lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safety, hazard communication program, personal protective equipment and other safety programs and apply these procedures when working on equipment. Other duties and/or jobs as assigned.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIESWork off of a ladder or in high or cramped spaces. Must be skillful in diagnosing and repairing plastic injection molding equipment and accessories. Talented in troubleshooting industrial motors, starters, controls, and panels. High school education or GED equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good hand and eye coordination is very essential. Demonstrated dexterity in using hand tools. Ability to lift 100 pounds and carry 50 pounds safely. Ability to intermittently sit, bend, climb, twist, crouch, reach, and lower. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to transfer and to interpret the explanation of problems and to receive and understand work assignments. Achieve and maintain required certified electrical worker status including certified CPR.Preferred 2 to 3 years’ experience with maintenance. Injection molding machine abilities preferred. Understanding of hydraulics. Electrical background preferred. Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics. Knowledge of PLC. Ability to operate a forklift safely and professionally.
