Job summary

Commercial Metals Company is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Material Handler Operator to support our Inde, KS operations. The role spans preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and hands-on repair across manufacturing and yard environments.

You will work with heavy machinery, assist with repairs, and ensure safe, efficient production. The position requires lifting, standing, and overtime as needed, with training and advancement opportunities provided by CMC.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods in an industrial setting.
• Work as a team player, with strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Willingness to overtime outside normal shifts when needed.
• Capable of performing physical activities: pulling, reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling.
• Experience with hydraulics/pneumatics, wiring and heavy equipment repair.
• Proficient at reading and understanding technical documents and service manuals.
• Valid driver’s license and basic fabrication skills (welding/cutting).

What You'll Do

What You'll Need

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather
• Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail to find root cause for equipment failures
• Ability to work overtime as necessary outside of normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notification
• Capable of performing a wide range of physical activities which include pulling, reaching, bending, climbing and kneeling
• Experience with hydraulics/pneumatics, wiring, and working on heavy equipment
• Proficient in reading and understand technical documents, diagrams, and service manuals
• Valid drivers license
• Welding, cutting, and fabrication skills

Your Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
