Job Description

Maintenance Mechanic-Locksmith needed for our Maintenance Department.

Available immediately, permanent full time position.

Classification-Unclassified-$51,422

JOB GOAL

The District Locksmith is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of locks, door hardware, and related hardware systems throughout the district. This position ensures that all facilities remain secure, functional, and compliant with safety standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • 1. Install, repair, replace, and maintain mechanical and electronic locking systems.
  • 2. Service and maintain Yale locks, Schlage, Von Duprin panic/exit hardware.
  • 3. Pin and re-pin cylinders; master key systems experience preferred.
  • 4. Cut keys and maintain accurate key control records.
  • 5. Install, adjust, and repair door closers.
  • 6. Install, repair, and maintain panic bar/exit hardware.
  • 7. Hang, align, and adjust doors and frames to ensure proper operation.
  • 8. Diagnose and correct door and hardware issues including hinges, strikes, thresholds, and weather stripping.
  • 9. Perform basic lock picking when necessary for access or troubleshooting.
  • 10. Inspect doors and hardware to ensure compliance with fire and life safety codes.
  • 11. Respond to emergency lockouts and urgent security issues.
  • 12. Work closely with Facilities, Maintenance, and Administration staff.
