Job summary

The Hershey Company’s Hazleton Plant in Hazle Township, PA, seeks a Maintenance Mechanic Intern to support the maintenance team with day-to-day upkeep, basic troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance activities. Qualifications

• Enrolled in a program such as Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical/Electronic Technology, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and electrical fundamentals.
• Willingness to learn safety procedures and follow site protocols.
• Strong manual skills and ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
• Must read, write, and speak English.
• Experience with hand tools and basic measurement devices.
• Familiarity with CMMS concepts.
• Coursework or exposure to preventive maintenance and/or root-cause fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preventive maintenance tasks (inspections, cleaning, and basic checks).
• Support work orders: document observations, help gather parts/tools, close out tasks.
• Perform basic troubleshooting under supervision (mechanical issues, equipment resets, etc.).
• Help with repairs and installations using standard procedures.
• Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance areas and follow LOTO procedures.
• Support inventory tracking for tools and consumables.
• Participate in safety walks and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Learn and be responsible for tasks assigned (changeover, pan upkeep).

Education
