The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a full-time Mechanic at the Long Island City location to maintain and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems for the YMCA and its off-sites. You will perform building repairs, upkeep, and cosmetic upgrades as directed by the Property Manager.

Requires 3–5 years of maintenance experience, a High School diploma, and relevant certifications (e.g., pool and safety credentials).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Three to five years of maintenance and building construction work experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
• Knowledge of using mechanical test equipment.
• Ability to maintain and adjust controls, systems, and preventative maintenance.
• Understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe usage.
• Maintain FDNY, DOB, and DOH logbooks.
• Pool maintenance and specific pool certifications required within 1 year.
• Must obtain required safety and building certifications within specified timelines.

Responsabilités

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and pool equipment.
• Perform building construction work as directed by branch leadership.
• Clean all spaces within the branch and off-sites.
• Store deliveries, move furniture, set up/break down rooms, and remove snow.
• Strip and wax floors and shampoo rugs as needed.
• Inform the Property Manager of all building issues.
• Responsible for painting when assigned.
• Follow DOH, DOB, FDNY, HPD, and ECB standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
